ENVIRONMENT
ENVIRONMENT – AN IMPORTANT PART OF THE STRATEGY

Consideration for the environment is an important part of the Tilgmann Group’s strategy and guides all our operations. We require that our operations use raw materials that are as environmentally friendly as possible, that we are CO2-neutral and that we operate within the 3R framework for sustainable development.

SUSTAINABLE AND ENVIRONMENTALLY FRIENDLY
RAW MATERIALS

Sustainable raw materials, with the least possible impact on the environment, are a relatively new thing in the industry. Inks in particular have traditionally been harmful to the environment. Tilgmann uses state-of-the-art inks that are graded both in terms of the environment and food. The environmental impact of inks is now a fraction of what it used to be. For this reason, for example, it is safe to work with printing inks on a daily basis.

GHG STANDARD

The Tilgmann Group calculates its carbon footprint according to the Greenhouse Gas Protocol (GHG) Corporate Accounting and Reporting Standard. GHG is a global standard for calculating a carbon footprint. In carbon accounting and reporting, Scope classification is used. The CO2 emissions of our own operations, in accordance with the GHG protocol, have decreased by more than 80% in the last 3 years. After compensating for the rest, we can proudly say that we are the first carbon-neutral player in the packaging industry in Finland.

3R FRAMEWORK

The 3R framework (Recycle – Replace – Reduce) we use helps to map out how sustainable development can be promoted not only in our own operations, but also in those of our customers and suppliers. Extending the application of the framework to stakeholders outside the company is progressive and well illustrates the Tilgmann Group’s determined and long-term environmental activities.
